patti paints

My name is Patti DelCheccolo......

....and I’m a twenty-five year resident of South Point, Ohio.Just as I chose to live in Ohio, I also chose to be a wife, a mother, a neighbor, a coworker, and a friend.  When it comes to painting though, I have no choice.  I have to be an artist.

As a child I constantly drew pictures for family, friends and teachers.  As a young mother in my twenties, I passed my passion onto my children while taking a bit of a hiatus myself in order to learn a viable trade.  As soon as the nest emptied though, I was right back at it, taking workshops, art classes and private lessons.  Besides broadening my knowledge of art history, I also learned about sketching and design in oils, pencil and charcoal.

Six years ago, I started my painting adventure by painting a seascape for my daughter Kimberly for a Christmas gift. Next, I wondered if my limited ability would allow me to tackle a portrait, so I experimented with my grandson, Drew.  Now I paint landscapes, seascapes and still life, but ever since I painted that likeness of my grandson, my passion has been for portraits.  I am a realistic artist, specializing in oils.

Capturing an accurate likeness of someone is definitely gratifying, but revealing a glimpse of their personality with paint is both surprising and rewarding.  I paint from both photos and life sittings, and enjoy incorporating cherished antiques into my commissions.

I have to be an artist.  If you choose to be a viewer, I hope you find the same pleasure in perusing my paintings as I did in creating them.
